firmware skycontroler

Post by Gerrit13 » 29 Oct 2018, 19:20

Hy people,

i ordered a bebop 1 with skycontroler.
It's one of the first models so I suppose it needs firmware updating.
I know how to but nevertheless, I don't want to make mistakes.
So:
I can update the bebop drone through the freeflight app
Is there anything I should be cautious about?
I have to update the skycontroler with an update file using USB.
I can't find any update files on the parrot site at the time
I believe some people said it was down
Which update file do I use, or can I just install the latest provided?
Regards

This must be obvious questions to most, never the less I don't want to mess anything up I read
there were some update problems with some devices.

Regards
Gerrit

Hello and welcome.

my thoughts: always have a full battery when updating firmware. It usually takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

EDIT: I was also not able to find the firmware update, Parrot Site is a mess at the moment.
This should help updating the firmware: http://blog.parrot.com/2015/02/20/skyco ... ate-1-2-3/

Whoa. Wrong version entirely. The SC1 is currently at ver 1.7.4, not 1.2.3 as that page says.

Anyway, I just placed a copy of the current firmware (1.7.4) for the SC1 online. You can pick it up at http://www.pennekamp.com/nap_update.plf

Click on the link, tell your computer to save the file on a (small - less than 16 gig) thumbdrive formatted as FAT32. DO NOT change the file name or it won't work. It should be the only file on the thumbdrive. Then plug it into the SC1's USB port and turn on the SC1. It will automatically update and restart in about 5 minutes (total).

If you want to watch the process, plug a monitor into the HDMI output of the SC1 before you start. Not necessary, but cool. Do not stop or interfere with the update until it completes and the SC1 restarts. When you're done, connect your phone's wifi to the SC1, open FreeFlight Pro, and it will show you the version number (1.7.4) when you click on the controller icon.

Tommy: Feel free to add this firmware to your (already massive) archive. :)

Yes, right. The blog post should cover the update process itself. Thank you for posting the firmware version.
