Sure, why not, they barely use any power. Lots of RC models have add-on LED lights running from the main battery.

Calverez while this is true, they don't use proprietary batteries. The tricky part with the stock batteries of the Bebop will be: where to solder your LED stripes?

That's what I was wondering. I'm confused my the battery connector. It's nothing like i've ever seen anywhere else.

Besides using LED with its own battery source there is no easy way to do this:

Basically you can either modify the battery plug itself to use aftermarket batteries like solaris8x86 did in his Bebop 2 to Router Mod (there is a thread in this board) here is the video:

Or get the + / - cable from inside the drone like in this video:

The fire rescue lights are pretty cool. But I sont know where to get them. The link in the YouTube descriptions have links to discontinued parts.

You can power external devices with 5 volts at up to 1 amp by simply plugging them into the drone's micro USB port for power...

Hi
Good post this having led lights is such a good idea, I do struggle sometimes to see my drone especially at high altitudes, just wondered as this is quite an old post has anyone done this ? And is there video

You can see the date of the postings so you know if its old
I had attached my LED navigation lights just for that reason: to see it better at distance. If you want to use LEDs for that purpose, be shure the LEDs have great brightnes e.a. high number of lumen/mcd. I made a short 'how to make' video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuAZgxVzNXg
WIth this methode you dont have to put extra weight for a battery on your BB2 that can influence the flight behavior or you dont have to modify the Batteryplug. Have fun

Hi
I have watched the video thank you
I will have a look in to getting my self some led bulbs and doing the mod

Re: Can an LED be powered from the Bebop 2 battery while still flying the drone?

I did use this components:
LED red 1,9V 20mA 9000mcd 25 degrees (viewing angle) mcd = milicandela (light intensity)
LED green 2,9V 20mA 9600mcd 25 degrees
LED white flash 3,2V 20mA 5000mcd
Resistors: carbon 1/4W
R1, 3 en 4= 270 Ohm (Red-Violet-Brown colorband)
R2= 180 Ohm (Brown-Green-Brown colorband)
If you use LEDs with other values, you have to change the resistor values as well.
A handy calculator for this on internet: http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz
You can calculate it yourself with Ohm's law: (R= U / I) - The the resistor for the green LED I'm using will be:
R = (11.1 V-[3x2,9 V]) / 0.02A
R = (11,1 V - 8,7 V) / 0.02A
R =2,4 V / 0.02 A=120 Ohm. The closest existing value in store = 180 Ohm
Battery Voltage = 11,1 Volt
Led Voltage = 2,9 Volt (3x green = 3 x 2,9 Volt)
20 mA = 0.02 Ampere
Have fun building your own BB2 navigation lights
