Modification of AR.Drone 2.0

Hi,
Could you please help me a little with understanding how the AR.Drone works?

I want to make a customized design of the quadcopter by printing a new frame on my 3D printer. And I want to make the frame slightly larger than tha original one, about 1.25 times. The goal is to make the distances between the propellers higher.

Could you advise if such modification can affect the stability of the machine? Do the stabilization algorithms take into account the geometrical parameters of the copter? Or are they just based on the feedback signal from the installed sensors?

I think it would work fine. You would need to increase the length of the motor leads, but ive seen all sorts of mods that the drone can still fly with. For the frame I would keep the arms at the same exact angles coming from the body because you never really know what the software could do. But the feedback from the drone is mostly just information from the sensors.
