For all the guys here using FPV Goggles...

Hilarity ensues...

Re: oculus rift and phobias
I've been thinking for a while that those look like what I want for FPV goggles. I mean, if it costs $250+ for Fat Shark goggles that are standard-def and 2D, and don't have much application past R/C FPV stuff, whereas the Oculus Rift is HD and can do 3D, and has all these capabilities with a PC, it seems like buying a 4wd truck versus a 2wd truck. Hey, a 2wd is cheaper and lighter and if that's all you need it for, then sure, but in my opinion if you're spending the money anyways, spend a little more to get something which then has a much wider range of capabilities. If that analogy makes sense?
They sell a 3D FPV camera on ReadyMadeRC, http://www.readymaderc.com/store/index. ... ts_id=1572" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Although the price of an Oculus Rift plus the 3D camera, plus probably a huge pain to get that 3D video processed through a computer and turned from interleaved frames into two video channels of right and left for the Oculus Rift, this would be a massive undertaking for a project. I think I'll put that one way down on the list. And it is a very long list. Let's put it this way, I think in the big picture, my "list of things to do" gets items added to it at a rate faster than I finish items and take them off the list. At least I won't ever have to worry about sitting around bored with nothing to do.

Re: oculus rift and phobias
The Oculus is very cool and all but probably won't be of much value to the FPV Flyers crowd for a while. Other HD headset glasses will be coming available by the end of the year.
But as fast as technology is progressing... who knows.
