Accessing Ar Drone V1

Post by ardunew » 05 Jun 2020, 11:48

Hello,
I recently found a Parrot Ar Drone V1 in the messiness of my sons room.
It still works with FreeFlight App on Android tablet.
I would like to connect to this drone from my ubuntu (focal) PC via a WiFi-USB Stick.

Is this technically possible at all ?
Is there any actual project (preferably python) to do so, or is this drone already too old ?

In a first trial I choose
https://github.com/venthur/python-ardrone
but I can not get it work (psyco-package is no more available for ubuntu 20.0.4) and the project is few years old. Not even sure I have a proper WiFi connection.

For some first steps would be nice to know how to Telnet into AR.Drone Linux, and check log file: /data/syslog.bin

Code: Select all

$ telnet 192.168.1.2
Trying 192.168.1.2...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
Any idea for further reading and learning?

thank you

Hello

I got some more Info but telnet, ssh still fefuses connection when tryig tologin.
ARDRONE: Hardware: 1.1 software 1.11.5
INERTIAL: Hardware: 1.6 software 4.70

Ubuntu 20.0.4
nmap found open port 22 ssh

I try to connect via WIFI USB dongle TP-WN722N, tried AP, adhoc and infrastructue
Are there additoinal requirements to login via telnet, ssh ?
Do I need to change default firewall settings ?
Is there a problem the way I ask, please let me know :)
