Programming drones

Post by eratostenes » 30 Oct 2017, 21:30

I am new to the whole world of drones, first of all, I want to make clear that my intention is not to have a "racing" drone or to "record a beautiful landscape". I am a computer programmer, and I would like to "play" with the drone, that is, program features for the drone etc ...

First I had thought of building my own drone from scratch, but it is too much work and I have seen that the AR 2.0 elite edition is not too expensive, my question is Can I run code to the drone? Software that I program? What operating system do you use? Can I connect to the operating system of the drone via ssh?

I feel if my questions are somewhat silly, I am completely new to this.

Thank you very much.

there are many different ways to program an AR.Drone. For quick results have a look at the node js frameworks for the AR.Drone.

AR.Drone does not run a sshd but you can connect via telnet. Which is not needed because the code is usually not running on the AR.Drone itself.

Sweet and delicious apps for your drones.

If it is still actual)
You can use ROS (www.ros.org). This is ros driver for ardrone https://ardrone-autonomy.readthedocs.io/en/1.4.1/.
