Hey all, I've been wondering when someone would talk about this!

I'm working on a solution to this problem. It involves the use of the "bread clips" you get on the end of bags of bread to keep them closed.

I'll keep you posted when I have more time to work it out...

equipoa, you've done it!

I'll be doing the same thing using "step flashing" metal used in residential asphalt roofing. It's super cheap and you can get it any hardware store...

Thanks!

Use a Budweiser can and leave the logo... 8-)

Seriously though... I would stay away from any kind of metal that's gonna affect your WiFi signal and cause dead zones...

2 cm x 2cm brass can dramatically affect the wifi?

Gives a better solution

Mine aren't that bad yet, but after I replaced the bottom hull they never stuck back on with the same strength. I'm thinking about cutting some square pieces of gorilla tape or black duct tape slightly larger the the plastic pieces. Then cut a slit halfway though one side with a hole in the middle and just a fixing them over the plastic pieces.

DBS has a point. Those metal shims would be up close to the outer edges of the internal Main Board.

Especially the rear-right shim (as viewed from the bottom side and HD camera being the front... see attached picture).

The AR Drone 2 has a single Main Board antenna strip line along the edge of the board.
It has a number of via holes along its length and goes under the white label as shown in the attached picture.

A piece of flat metal perpendicular to the antenna strip line would surely have some kind of affect on the WiFi radiation pattern.

The AR Drone 1 has two antenna strip lines located on the front left and right edges of its Main Board.
