Repaired Parrot Bebop 2 Cross Section

Postby atkohler » 05 Jan 2017, 01:59

I crashed my Bebop 2 into a tree to day while flying at ~100'. The Drone fell directly to the ground pretty hard, knocking out the battery and breaking an entire wing/ arm off of the main frame or cross section. Luckily this was the only damage, the camera and rest of the drone are intact with a few scratches. I did not even have to change the Propellers.

Things I used to repair:
    -Zip Ties
    -JB Weld 5 Minute Epoxy
    -Popsicle Stick

Unfortunately I did not get any pictures of the drone right after the crash so I have no pictures to show the shape it was in but it is pretty self explanatory. I tried epoxy alone at first which I found was not strong enough to hold the arm up. I drilled two holes in the arm to run the zip ties through and attached to the frame wherever I could find a suitable place. Lastly I added the Popsicle stick to add support to the back of the frame and voila! I did a test flight to ~150' and had no trouble at all what-so-ever, the drone flew exactly as it did before the crash :D 8-)

Welcome to the board!

I have to say that this does not look good to me and it will break sooner or later, a new central cross is only about 25.- Euro.

Sweet and delicious apps for your drones.

Positing here my experience :)
I first try to fix the cross using super glue 3. It did works for a few fly, but it is not strong enough to last long and was starting to break little by little soon after...

Now, I just did welding it. Look's dirty, but pretty strong.

For now, only 2 flight with that system, keep in touch!
