Lost Bebop2 help needed?

Post by edge » 04 Apr 2019, 17:17

If the battery is about to die and the drone decides to land, is there a way to find those GPS coordinates of where it landed?

Free flying in open field using Skycontroller 2, 3 foot tall grass.
Wind switched and drone lost battery power quickly due to increasing wind speed.

I thought I saw where it went down, but darkness won the day.

I thought that by pushing drone button it would show last GPS position, but it only shows my location as a Blue dot and a "Bell" apparently try to communicate!!!

Is there a way to get that last known GPS location?

Thanks in advance.

You went to the right screen when you tapped the drone button and saw your own location, but it should also have shown a red drone icon at the drone's last known location. If it doesn't show the red drone icon you may not have had a GPS lock during the flight. Tap that map for a full-sized version. Maybe it'll show more detail.

The bell sets off a beep from the drone (if you're in communications with it) to help find it in places like weeds, tall grass, etc. It won't work unless you're connected to the drone.

Good luck!

Thank you.

I started using an Ipad, flew a bit, then switched to my Iphone.
When I switched I actually don't recall if I double checked for double GPS lock.

Lesson learned, heading back on Saturday for a grid search as a last resort.

Chalk a Bepop 2, to pilot error :(

Be sure to check the Last Known Location on both devices. It might still be on your phone for instance.

Best of luck on your grid search today!

Thanks all, we had some heavy rain yesterday and last night.

I put on some boots and admit I was running out of space to look, when I spotted a propellor sticking up.
Removed the battery and dried the Bebop 2 out for a while.

Double GPS this time :)

Took it for a few very short runs.
Props did not shut down on landing a few times, and it would bounce around.

After 3 or 4, it started landing properly.

Once again thanks to all, and lesson learned!

I love a happy ending. :D

One tip. Put a sticker with your contact info on the drone. It's not unusual to lose a drone and have somebody else find it. How do they know who to return it to without your contact info?
