Nigel,

I'm sure that when I was playing around with the settings in AR.FreeFlight, I came across an option to download google maps of my immediate area so that they were available without an internet connection. I'll have another look.

Ah yes, here it is:

- From the AR.FreeFlight 2.4 front page, select Preferences
- Select Map Storing > Settings
- Zoom in/out and position the map
- Select Store

It goes through the process, although I haven't looked to see if this is available when off the internet. Should work with the GPS modules though?

Is there any Windows driver for this dongle included? I assume the 4G flash can be accessed no problem as a drive, but how about GPS itself?

Nice pics Nigel.

I hope that it lives up to expectations and that the supply line builds up so that getting hold of one is easier.

Can't wait to get my hands on one ... The GPS module with the new 1500mAh battery will open up new realms of AR Drone fun! Don't suppose anyone knows an ETA for stock of both battery and GPS module to arrive in Australia? Can the batteries be mailed from overseas? Anyone? ;)

Well yesterday was ridiculously windy and today it's supposed to be worse.

I did go flying yesterday though and I'm very impressed, my wind meter was reading 24mph winds gusting to 30+

Sorry I didn't try flying it out of range, conditions made me think it was not wise,
The GPS plotting from iDevice is single point, you pick a destination, height, speed and direction and it will rotate, climb and move in that order. You then pick next point, hit go and off it goes.

Return home is pretty much spot on, I left my height setting at 2m (with 5m ceiling) as I didn't want it straying too far. As soon as I hit home it climbed to 2m turned to face home and came straight back.

Below is a flight path that Was just a simple fly across the wind facing into it then hit return home, you can see by the horseshoe shape the it got blown off course by a gust but corrected itself and got back to where I wanted it.

DirectorMode with GPS is amazing. I know in another post the preset manoeuvres where not making good impressions when in a breeze, but with the GPS it flew dead straight (I have video coming) I tried the four directions with the nose pointing into wind and it flew them without fault. Tried the 360 button and the wind did catch it when the drone was side on but compensated very quickly and got back to where it should have been.

In recommended weather conditions this will inspire an awful lot of confidence in people flying as shadow chasing, loosing floor lock and sudden altitude changes are not really a concern anymore.

As I said video is coming, my camera man went home with the footage.

Pawelsky when you plug the device in to a pc/mac you see it as a normal removable disk so you can access all your videos. And :D yes there are drivers for the flight recorder for both mac and windows (64&32bit)

Thanks Nigel but I was more interested about the GPS part. I guess it shows up as an unidentified device, correct?

Thanks for the quick update Nigel. All sounds good considering the dodgy weather conditions

Hi Nigel, any chance of you uploading the drivers somewhere so I can take a look (interested in both Mac and Windows, I assume there aren't Linux?).

Does the gps flight recorder work with the outdoor hull covering it, or does Parrot suggest operating the AR Drone with the outdoor hull removed?
All of the videos so far show flying with the hull removed.
Thanks.

Can anybody tell me if this GPS module from Parrot works with the Mirumod RC?
