Wow, USPS can still impress me once in a while. Glad you're happy with it. Can't wait to see your build.

And it's beautiful... I like what they did with the flanged bearings... that's gonna be a different order when it's time to swap but I found them already... I've got 7/32 square aluminum tubing coming cuzz I need to make the motor arms a bit longer for this mod I'm dreaming up... real happy with this kit

LONGER ARMS :o

I am a huge fan of this idea. I would think this would make a much more stable platform. I like it.

I'm still waiting for my cross to show up. Its stuck in customs right now. Maybe it will clear today and be waiting for me after work. :D

In theory anyways right? But then again we're dealing with a firmware controlled platform... so this may just throw a monkey wrench into the works :?

Worth some experimenting anyway... we'll see I guess.

Good luck on your delivery bro

DBS can you post the details on what our options are for replacement bearings?

These... http://www.ebay.com/itm/230917611246?

And specifics would be 2mm x 5mm x 2.3mm flanged

Boca Bearings part number MF682-ZZ
But he has several options for this bearing so it's better to enter the search on his site "2x5x2.3" (don't use letters don't use spaces) and remember to choose a flanged bearing... I don't think these motor mounts were made with a seated bore for the bearing so they will just slide thru without the flange.

Last night I had some free time so I installed the new cross. Now when I power on the drone it has a motor failure on startup. The motor board clearly has power and lights up. I'll troubleshoot tonight by swaping the motor board from the other arm. If I somehow mangled one of the motor boards that fine I'll replace it. I'm a little worried it might be a one of the wires to that arm.

I ended up having to apply a little bit of hot glue to the larger connector and the main board as it had a knack of wobbling loose and disconnecting motor #2 after a decent crash.

I took some time tonight and swapped the #3 motor and the #4. The problem does not follow the motor. The motor on the #3 arm still has an issue. I checked the mainboard connector as ShellDude suggested and nothing is loose.

I used my multimeter and tested the harness to the #3 arm. There are no broken contacts so far as I can tell. I have to assume that there is a wiring or pinout issue. I'll compare the wiring on the new cross to the stock cross before I switch back to the old stock cross. If I cant find a difference I'll go back to the crappy stock cross so the drone will be in shape to fly.

Does anyone have the pinout for the stock cross so I can compare it to my sport cross harness?

can't you just compare another arms' wiring, pin-for-pin?

I did that and colour code wise they are the same which would lead me to believe that pinout-wise the issue is with the pinout on the connectors from the cross to the mainboard -not- the pinout from connector on the arm to the motor.

As I said I'll compare the pinouts to the stock cross with my multimeter on my next go at this. I do an interesting problem but I like my working drone more. If I spend too much time on this in one go I start to get frustrated because honestly the sport cross should just be a straight swap with no troubleshooting.

The build quality of the sport cross is high enough I'm sure this is just a fluke.

Got a good solid picture of the pattern...

Just thinking out loud here ... you only got one motor problem... you said it lights up... probly the black and red connector is ok... The other connector has a specific pattern... Grey, orange, white - repeat

If many of them were messed up then you would have more than one motor problem...

My guess is you look down thru your battery compartment with a flash light and you see two of those wires out of order and that's your problem

Thanks Blorincz,

Dbs called it. the pattern on the white orange and grey wires has a couple out of sequence.

I'll post pictures later.

Hey Tommy
I'm sorry your harping issues with the cross.
Where did you get it from?
Please pm me your address and I'll get a replacement sent out to you.
I've sold quite a few of these, with no issues, I'm sure it must be a fluke?
Cheers

Neil

As you can not so plainly see from my extremely poor, hastily taken camera phone pic I did before running out of the house late for work; counting from left to right the wires on pins 4 and 5 are switched.

I-drone, As I stated before the build quality on the sport cross is excellent and I am absolutely certain this is a fluke. I appreciate you standing by your product but I'm in Canada so shipping me another cross is quite silly unless I cannot carefully pop out the two mis-pinned wires and place them in their correct locations. Customs held the last cross for 5 days before releasing it for delivery.

I will take a proper picture and post it. I will make an attempt after work to sort the two pins and keep everyone posted.
