New Pro 9.39 Release and Flight Release 7.53 coming soon:

It's been a while, due to the usual poor support from Parrot for the Flight Recorder. It might not be perfect yet, but the issues seem to be mostly down to the Parrot firmware, not me ;)
Beta members have put a lot of testing effort in to this release, so thanks to them… Of course they get more influence in what changes occur too.

Edit: Minor 9.33 update for people using Dutch/French/German/Russian having problems getting into the Info Block settings UI.

Edit 2: Can't be bothered to create a new post, but 9.35 and 7.51 are just uploaded to put back the missing Flight Animation buttons...

Edit 3: v9.36 and v7.52 are just fixing bugs detected in ACRA.

Edit 4: v9.39 and v7.53 are more bug fixes including support for slow devices like Asus MemoPad. The Launch/Land now doesn't queue up events.

The main headline changes are for Pro:

* Full MAVLink Flight Recorder support (see website and video below).
Requires device GPS and of course you need to have downloaded a Map for your area.
You need to be running 2.4.1 firmware or higher for Flight Recorder support. Also 2.4.1 had fly-away issues, so 2.4.7 is what Parrot are using…
MAVLink control is from the map Planner mode and there is no manual input in this mode. MAVLink autonomous control can fly out of wifi range in this mode, so be careful!

* Improved Google licensing over 3G and better background updates should mean less license warnings.

* New Info Block options for GPS, connected SSID and profile information.

Flight Recorder video:
http://youtu.be/HbM9hWooXOA" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Updated website:
http://www.meavydev.co.uk/ARDrone.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Both:

* App exit is now via Back or on-screen exit only. Home will relaunch the app due to accidental exits via home.

* If you have the Flight Recorder installed, then due to Parrot firmware sensor fusion, you now need a good 15m 3D GPS fix before taking off. This is basically the flashing LED…

* Autonomous mode from old Auto button in Map view also uses the Flight Recorder, but not via MAVLink control.

* Memory improvements. I've tried to minimise memory use for those people still struggling on with pre-Jelly Bean devices, but really it's time you upgrade ;)

* Gamepad input now moves on-screen thumb controls. Obviously you don't see this if you have on-screen controls turned off...

* New low battery warning. It also repeats.

* Reconnecting to the drone in flight no longer gets it to land.

* The time for USB recordings is now correct.

* Waypoints now get saved to a file and you can switch files.

There are probably other changes which I've forgotten to mention too :)

Thanks Shawn for all your efforts on our behalf. I've had the flight recorder for three months and still no update to freeflight although they said Sept (yeah sure). Thankfully now i can use the flight recorder with my Nexus 4. Your app is way better then freeflight. Keep up the good work bud :)

Flips are part of Flight Animations (which got hidden by accident)... see second edit above.

Pro v9.44 coming soon.

MAVLink fixes for Flight Recorder, so thanks to JJK for his Beta test efforts.

If you have problems with Follow Waypoints sticking to the first waypoint, just change its type from Take-Off to a normal Waypoint.

I've also added a new MAVLink Params button which shows the list of configurable parameters in the drone. You can use this to set things like the flying speed and flight radius (so it won't fly outside this under MAVLink autonomous control).
I'm just displaying the parameter names provided by the drone, so it matches what QGroundControl shows you.

Probably a few other bug fixes too.

Edit: Forgot one - Ephemeris update for quicker GPS Fix. I've tied this to the Refresh Licenses menu, as the ephemeris data needs to be updated once a week, so you will also have an up to date license... After you press OK when the license has been refreshed, it will now download the ephemeris quick fix data from Parrot. This is updated when you connect back to the drone, so you will see a brief updating dialog when you connect.

New Pro 9.51 Release and Flight Release 7.58 coming soon:

Edit 3: 28/11
Still attempting to fix the Qualcomm specific OpenGL intermittent crashes (some devices more frequent than others). Just initialisation order and memory allocation.
No new features.

Edit 2:
Attempted Bug fixes for OpenGL Qualcomm issues (working with Qualcomm).
MAVLink bug fixes to try and improve stability.
Also experimented with MAVLink ROIs, setting camera point of interest, but Parrot don't appear to support it. Hopefully they will in the future...

Edit: Bug fixes - mainly tidying up cancelled downloads and MapsForge threading issues.

The main change is to allow autonomous mode on devices without GPS if the Flight Recorder is detected.

A side if this is an improvement to MapsForge performance on devices without Google Maps.

For MAVLink autonomous mode, the waypoints now default to MSL altitude mode (above mean sea level). This is due to a Parrot bug, in that they only use the height above ground if this is set, when they should be using relative height.
At least you can switch back when (or if) Parrot fix this.

New Pro 9.54 Release and Flight Release 7.59 coming soon:

New Map icon buttons (Thanks to 3nslav3!) giving more visible map area for normal and plan views.

I have replaced all the text buttons with images and made the background translucent, so you get a bigger map area.
I think most people will work out the different icons, but top left is Map/Plan, next to it is the Waypoints. Below it is the Auto (car ;))
Launch / Land and Emergency are the same as the normal flight mode buttons.
Next to E-Stop is the Disable.
Bottom right is the Close.
Top Right is Params, with Home and then Here under it.
