If you want faster recording, then use USB,

Local recording is never going to be as quick, well perhaps when we all have 2GHz ARM 15s... but you have the advantage of adding overlay information in real time.
Try setting the record rates and device video performance as described on my web page:
http://www.meavydev.co.uk/ARDrone.html

But guess what, converting 640x360 to MP4 format requires a lot of CPU grunt ;)

DroneBonerStallone wrote:+1 on that... using the PS3 controller works great ... i can confirm ... but you need to adjust some settings to get it the way you want... and why use caveman usb when the bluetooth works just fine and doesn't limit your movements

thanks for the tip-i have a logitech ps3 controller-bluetooth-works great!

Actually I might take you up on that offer, but I am somewhat behind on getting translations.
My friend who does the French, moved back to Switzerland yesterday, so no French updates for a good few months...
Also my friend who is a German linguist has decided it's too technical for her, so German updates not looking like any time soon either.
So anyone who wants to volunteer translation skills let me know and I'll PM the resource files, but be aware I have had linguists turn it down as being too difficult ;)

Is US southern lots of "yehaw woops"? ;)

Here are all the strings, as I'm not gong to inflict them on anyone ;)

If you want to have a go at updating or adding new languages, then just PM me...

To add a new language then it would be something like copy strings.xml and create a strings.nl.xml.

My mind only works in English too ;)

What my friends have been doing is using Google Translate as a starting point and then correcting.
However that doesn't work for me as I can't spot the difference between machine translated gobbledygook and proper phrases :)

Thats what I'm doing :P google translate always commes up with words that I couldn't :lol: (i think it actually invents words and hacks them into the mighty global dictionary)
they should be finished today but my Ebike broke down so i have to fix that first :oops:

edit:

I think this might be a good idea: (some people are running roms that are in english while they have a different native language etc)

Code: Select all

<string-array name="Language">

Deutsch
    => german (Sprache)

français
    => french (langue)

Nederlands
    => dutch (taal)

English
    => english

I would like to confirm that the altitude settings above 100meter works!

new personal record: 126 meter

USB video:

Direct link: http://www.youtube.com/v/Pbcf9TFxvfo

Overlay video: (i used very low bitrates so sry for the low quality)

Direct link: http://www.youtube.com/v/XKoN7LaN54c

I really like the link quality meter! it's a great help and I can't imagine doing these kinds of stunts without it!

@3nslav3 : Kudos, that was really nice! What battery did you have on it? It seems to hold much better than the default.

Thanks Costing! :)

Thunder Power Lipo! (I only have them since friday tho :lol: )

Image

I got these from a local shop, the shop owner told me that these are the best lipo's that he ever sold and I believe him (after testing and confirming)
the discharge rates are accurate and can be done without much risk unlike most cheap brands, same for the charge rate => up to 6.7Amp (5c)

the weight: only 94 grams (catalog weight and confirmed by my scale)

Thunder power does a ridiculous amount of quality checks during production (that is why the price is a bit higher then other brands)

I was planning to write something about these baby's in the batteries topic when I'm done testing them ;)

edit:
oh and btw, this was on firmware 2.2.6 ;)

Found them on Ebay, 45 EUR with shipping (for one piece) ... That's quite a lot, but seems to make a difference. I'm still waiting for the 1500 mAh that DroneBonerStallone has recommended to arrive, for 19 EUR all included it is quite ok.
