My V1.5 Drone :)

Post by IIVII » 29 Sep 2012, 23:59

today i was testing frimware 1.11.5 on one of my V.1s , it was kinda windy outside so i stayed inside the house with the indoor hull on , flew for couple mins ok then All hell's broke loose ,, the drone stopped responding then suddenly jumped hit the ceiling hard and went crazy smashing against walls .. the results weren't pretty :

1- hull rings in pieces.
2- lost couple gears & shafts .
3- front cam foam base broke in the middle , the cam was hanging by the lil cable.
4- an inch of the rear end was missing

i looked at it for a min and i though ohh what da helll i'll take it apart and stock it as spareparts for the rest of the fleet , i was gettin' ready to take it apart , then it hit me .. what if i chop the body 1.5" from the front and do the same to the rear end , and make an outdoor hull out of the messed up indoor hull .. so my lil knife / torch / super glue came into play .. and voila ;)

after finishing the facelift i downgraded to my trusty 1.7.6 frimware , took it out for a fly test and it flew better than ever  .

i ended up with a lot of extra foam so i made lil shoes for the landing gears :D

here are few pix of the new V1.5 Drone :)

now that's a body mod that I'd opt for. Good work IIVII.

Look at those 15dBi monsters

Just remember... your getting more range flat out but not as high
A simple 5dBi antenna has a good 360° pattern... think of it like a fat donut with the antenna in the center hole

A 15dBi antenna has a much broader flat range... think of it like a Frisbee... much farther distance but flat beamwidth

Thanks DBS as usual nothing but valuable info :)

i've got 5/9/12/15dbi sets and i'll be doing some extensive side-by-side range comparisons this weekend and we'll see how it goes  .
