of course, every camera is better than 320x240 ;) but is it better than a regular 808#11 keyfob cam?
$36/17g makes it very drone-friendly, so this should be a "standard" competitor for comparisons, and not the built-in cam.
I orderd the 808# 11 camera to so I'll have to see what the difference is mt self.

numbers like this are meaningless...

for example, the "5.0 Mega pixels" of the key chain camera is completely fake, because it only has 1280x720 sensor (~1 Mpix). 12 megapixels of the dash camera is probably pure fiction too.
any given camera can produce any output resolution by simply upscaling the picture, that's why we can never be sure it is 1080p, 720p or maybe 480p (especially when the manufacturer is anonymous factory in china). moreover, even if the resolution is true, the camera sensor or its lens can be poor quality and 1080p looks worse than 720p. then, there is framerate + dropped frames problem, cheap manufacturers usually avoid this subject and you only learn about it from your own experience or from reviews.

based on how sharp the picture looks, people guess that the 720p of the keychain camera is probably true (but for me it looks WORSE than my iphone's 720p!), the true amount of detail in the dash camera video is yet to be estimated (but based on what i saw in your video, it is not better than keychain - of course the youtube conversion might have affected this).

i'm glad you are also purchasing 808#11, then you will be able to perform conclusive resolution tests!
(e.g. record a video showing the same page of fine print in the same conditions and see if it is legible)

FRAPS, as far as I know, is only testing the frame rate rendered by your video card. A lot of cheap Chinese cameras skip frames, but appear to have a normal frame rate. They do this by repeating the same frame more than once. The only way to tell is to use a video player that can step through one frame at a time, and count the number of unique frames in a one second period on average.

Yep, and for well known / popular cameras such as the 808 #11, you have to be careful you're buying from a known-good seller, because there have been plenty of people burnt with fakes that claimed to have far higher-res sensors than they really did, and/or getting cameras that drop frames like crazy when the real camera doesn't.

All that does is show the encoded frame rate. I could give you a video where it never changes from the first frame, but was encoded as 1,000fps.

Yes you are right we can stay here all day and argue about cam versus cam. I'm just looking for the best cheapest possible way to add a new camera. That can display the best video quality and audio quality possible If you like to strap a $300 go Pro camera to a $300 Drone and fly off into the wild blue yander. Help your self with that ideal I'm not that rich. Lol

Don't get me wrong, not knocking you in any way. I'd love to see more options available to us. Right now, I can't afford a GoPro either. I just want to try and help confirm the quality so folks know whether or not what you got is a good option. The only reliable way to do that is to manually count frames, which is why I offered to do it for you, if you can upload a clip at the maximum settings to a file download site. (Obviously not Megaupload lol).
