18650 battery

Post by oldjarhead46 » 26 Jun 2015, 18:22

I haven't posted on here for a while. I had been using my drone in my work as an insurance adjuster. I have modified it to use without body and with adjustable camera. Does anybody know what the maximum weight the Ar Drone 2 will fly reliably? My batteries have all gone dead and I want to use the largest I can. I have retired and am now going to use just for videos. I notice that Digikey makes a battery holder for 3 of the 18650 battery. These go up to 5000 ma. Do these have high enough amperage?
Thanks

I tested it too. You can use a 155 gram battery at max to fly safely. (Stock battery is about 110 gram). Heavier than 155gram the propellers cannot provide enough lift off power. You would notice it has an altitude drop during move after that additional weight.

Thanks for the info. I guess I will now weigh my drone as it is now and go from there.

Hello, I tested with 18650 batery 2200mAh 10C, it was working ok, then I tested double it 4400mAh, and it was problem with taking off. It lift realy hard. And the balance was not ok. I will do more test- maybe try to remove some parts to make it less weigh. Becouse with original parrot battery I am able to go only for 3-5min.

I just ordered this battery
Parrot Ar.drone 2.0 Upgrade 2500mah Li-po
I assume from the name it will work on my Parrot
but, after reading this thread I am concerned about the weight.
It is not shown on the site I ordered it from.
Fingers crossed.
