maybe I need to understand what this android app actually does.

Hmm. I'm not sure about that.. I see myself on the map AND a drone icon.. and both will move around on the map as I walk around or if I fly around.. AND the fact that my userbox files contain gps points.. (from 2.3.3 FW)

Easiest test to find out where the data comes from would be to unplug the GPS and see what is reported.

Can you give me some more info/a link about what this app does?

Really step 1 should be to test Parrot's own support (i.e. iOS FreeFlight 2.4.3), if you can borrow an iPhone/iTouch/iPad that would take some variables out of the equation.

I downgraded my drone to 2.3.3 and do not see it interacting with the GPS module at all. Makes sure you really have 2.3.3 and check with shawnf what the app is actually supposed to do.

yeah I really do have only 2.3.3.. I cannot launch with 2.4.1. I'm posting to shawn's beta google hangout about it.. he says that he IS pulling gps data down and putting it into the userbox -- and I'm trying to see if we can understand why I'm getting GPS data while only on 2.3.3..

Carl, that screenshot is from using ARDrone Flight Pro on Android 4.2.2 (cyanogenmod 10.1.2) on my VZW Samsung Galaxy Nexus phone. At that time I was indeed on FW 2.4.1, but I could not launch, so I downgraded to 2.3.3 and went outside and flew for literally only a few minutes before it got too dark. It was cloudy and I do not know how many satellites I had locked, but I ended up (from that flight) with 5 Lat/Lon points plotted in Google Earth (userbox files -> gbx via Darklo's ruby script)

okay just an update to all of this: The gps works AWESOME!! Combined with the ruby script that Darklo posted in this thread: http://www.ardrone-flyers.com/forum/vie ... 467#p67467 and it's nearly drone porn :)

I was not able to get gps data on 2.3.3 again. I have no explanation so I'll accept the simplest one: GPS needs 2.4.1.. and now I can launch: I had the option "auto land under 15cm" enabled in ARDFP, and that feature was causing the issue all this time.

Shawn is working hard on updating ARDFP to support the gps mavlink and "director" type features.. so soon this will get even more fun! Thanks to all involved in lending an ear and a hand to solving problems as they arise!

" (Optional) Install Parrot's flight recorder drivers. This should allow you to use it in Windows, e.g. with the apps that came with it."

Dose anyone know where to get the above-mentioned drivers? TIA

[quote="Kyrt"]Now, how to get it working:

4. Download the Customisation Utility from SiliconLabs (AN721SW.zip).
5. Use the utility to change the VID to 19CF and the PID to 3000. Pawelsky's thread has a screenshot - this process is the same as the DIY flight recorder.
6. Click "Program device" to make the change. After the change has been written, you should hear the USB device disconnect and reconnect. The utility may show an error after validation, it should be OK. I think this is because after writing the changes, the driver no longer recognises the GPS as a standard CP2102... because it is now a Flight Recorder!

I downloaded the Customisation Utility (AN721SW.zip). However, it won't run on XP. logs indicated below. Any idea? TIA

You need all the files/dirs from the Windows subdirectory unzipped, not just the CP21xxCustomizationUtility

EDIT: Forget it, doesn't work on my XP either. Strange, I think I've been using it on my XP that machine as well :(

Which driver do you have installed? Did you extract the whole package?

The AN721 software might not work on XP, I'm not sure. Maybe you could try using the method from Application Note 144:
http://www.silabs.com/support%20documen ... /an144.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The software only works with an early version of the driver I seem to remember. The software for AN144 is in this package:
http://www.silabs.com/Support%20Documen ... rchive.zip" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There was something on their website about this but I can't find it now.
