I am quite impressed so far. I think I got to around 200 feet, and I was scared to go any higher.. I couldn't even hear it anymore. :)

200 feet? (at the 3:20 mark)

I did a ground test to see how far it would go with the SR10000, and I stepped it out to approximately 600 feet. Not the 1000-1200 feet that I have seen posted, but I am still very happy with this distance.

It could have been that high. Here is video from mine up to 140 feet. I verified that because I was flying with Drone Control, which gives you charts for height and speeds.

My camera is pointed down slightly......

I'm going to have to invest in a S10000.. I'm not a height junkie, but I do get out of range pretty often because of horizontal distance.. what's a good price for a S10000?

I paid $129.99 for mine, shipped in Canada with TigerDirect. I also bought a $30 dc/ac inverter for the car to plug it in.

I'm selling a Amped sr10000 repeater. It's practical new. Not used very much.

It's very interesting for the european guys in this forum. Because they dont sell the SR repeaters in europe. If you want to buy it in the states, They always ask 40 euros minimum for shippingcosts. Im selling it for half the price of a new one.

Give me an PM if you are interested.

Hey I have successfully flashed my wrt54gs over to dd-wrt and cannot for the life of me figure out what I have to do to configure the repeater settings. Do I set it as a bridge? Or is it a repeater? Sorry if this info is here, just cant get it to work!

Click wireless tab

Set wireless mode to repeater bridge

Mode mixed

Put in the ssid of your drone

Add 1 virtual interface (if not already there) with a name of ardrone_repeater

Click setup tab

Disable WAN

Give the repeater an IP address 192.168.1.254

That should do it

Connect control device to dd-wrt_vap ssid and it will repeat it to the drone's ssid

This is how my home is set - not drone tested yet but should work - TESTED OK NOW

here is a dd-wrt config file for a WRT-54G that should be ready to go for a repeater for an ar drone. I tested it today, seems to work fine:

WRT-54G repeater config file

the user name is admin and the password is admin

log into your WRT-54G running dd-wrt, and upload this config file to it

then you will need to put in the exact ssid if YOUR ar drone in it. currently it has mine in it. you will find this in the wireless tab.

then connect your control device to the ardrone_repeater ssid, and the AP will repeat it automatically to your ar drone's ssid

it is probably better to "forget" the ar drone's original ssid on the control device to make sure it is really connecting to ardrone_repeater

if you want to connect a laptop to monitor or configure the AP, put the laptop on a static IP address such as 192.168.1.100 and it can connect via LAN cable or via wifi and then point it's browser to 192.168.1.254 which is the ip address of the router now. Then login with admin and admin and you can watch the statistics

600' isn't bad for ground level, you should get more with some altitude. Also, what environment did you test in? Was it a big wide open field with no obstacles around or did you walk it down your street with houses, cars, trees, and wifi interference all over the place? Your environment has a huge effect of the range you will get even with the repeater.

first flight today through dd-wrt WRT-54G repeater, worked fine!

control and video were great

I really like this method because you don't have to change any configuration inside the ar.drone, and you always have the option of switching the control device back real quick to the ssid of the drone directly. The other reason I like this method is no need to try to get an external wifi antenna on the control device. One of the WRT-54G's antennas stays on the little whip, and the other goes on a panel antenna using a RP/TNC adapter.

I have mine set to ssid of ardrone_repeater for the repeater, and ardrone_1234567 for the drone itself, and I can see both on the control device. I just pick which one to use

Next step is to install the wheel antenna on the drone and I suspect I will have a control link for as far as I dare fly the thing

It's one big Mind Job.

Flying One Kilometer or 100 Meters is basically the same thing... other than being a longer flight.

Find an open area with calm winds and your AR Drone will take you there.

One other thing: If you have an Android Device then load the AR Drone Flight Pro App.
