So have any of you Team PV+ guys gotten the ground station software yet? Seems to be right up your alley DBS, supposedly let's you control the copter from an iPad. Looks like it would let you fly way beyond fpv range, and even beyond control range? That would be where you'd need Garrock's hypothetical 4g control/video link to kick in

#1) never really been interested in waypoint flight...
#2) no way in hell I'm giving Apple any money for an an iPad

I could've got into that whole deal with the AR when the flight recorder came out but I just can't see the fun in watching my drone fly around by itself... I spent this money to go out and actively enjoy the hobby... I could go watch copters fly around at the rc field for free...

And yeah... diehard Android fan boy here... iPad isn't even an option to me...

Just my opinions though... The tech behind the whole idea still impresses me and I watch the videos ... just not my thing I guess :ugeek:

But you DID just switch to a Phantom. So....

(BTW, Ground Station, at least so far, does not work with Phantom 2 Vision or Plus.)

I might actually re-purpose my Witespy for that at some point in time. I'm with you for the most part, I like flying it not watching it fly. Still though, I can see the value in just kicking back and watching a mission unfold once in a while too. I thought you'd go for it mainly for the tablet control (which I personally can't stand, but different strokes). I'm kinda surprised they don't support Android though.

My understanding is this isn't available yet for the Vision. Still waiting on DJI to include the Vision for the ground station. Last I heard they said 4-6 weeks on their FB, but that was about 3 months ago.

Well this thread certainly went quiet. Did all of your phantoms fly away or something? :D

Nope... just had a 3 week run of 70hrs a week at work... coming into the last three days now... and I was waiting for goodies to arrive from all over the damn planet before going out and trying some test range flights... antennas from California and Poland.... flytrex core 2 from Israel... connectors and boosters from China...

should be getting back active again in the coming week I guess... still in the "enjoyment" phase with this new toy so I'm not rushing out there yet... might have a bunch of free time two weeks away so we'll see here pretty soon.

Ooooo... looks like native datalogging has been implemented! (probably needs the latest firmware though..)

I was thinking about a flytrex too, but that'd be unnecessary now.. (except to join in the competition with the website awards etc)

Oooooo... looks like that was a huge false alarm ... Not working yet so you'll be waiting awhile... then there will be some tinkering to get it compatible with dashware or whatever else because the files will only be viewable with the DJI data viewer app

So in the meantime... until they get it all sorted out... I'll use the flytrex ... and then hold on to it for any future toys I might get into.

That was funny as hell to read along with today... I was thinking "crap... The day I get the damn flytrex they come out with this?!?" Then the day went on and people sorted everything out and as usual... somebody jumped the gun and read something into it that never happened with this update... whatever... It'll only be a month or so driving those guys nuts

Re: Phantom 2 Vision Plus... *5/21 update* ... Flytrex Core

Post by DBS » 22 May 2014, 03:48

Flytrex showed up today... had this idea when I saw how small it was on their website...

Fits like a charm with the SD card slot accessible when the battery is removed... snap the battery back on and you'd never know it was there :ugeek:

Love it! hopefully the core won't create any noise that affects the wifi with it being "that close" to the antenna on that side.

I'm ditching those antennas tomorrow anyway so not an issue... The new ones will be way down low on the landing gear away from everything.
