Newby with some questions about 60Beat / MFI Gamepads

Post by davidmelville » 04 Sep 2015, 11:01

Hi everybody,
I'm new on the block having got an ARDrone Elite with GPS flight recorder a few weeks ago. I'm coming back to 'model flying' after many, many years away and it's sort of new! Whilst I'm getting the hang of it fast I find the iPhone as a controller not so easy.
I would like to have a go with either a 60Beat controller or a Moga game pad for IPhone 5s . . . The problem is that I have AR Free Flight as my software and both these appear to not be comparable. I downloaded Drone Ace and installed it but the app would not run as my drone is much later than the app and the software/firmware is not supported and there is no update to the app available. Drone Ace don't appear to have serviced the app for a couple of years.
So my first question is what is out there and being used by you guys on this forum.
Many thanks,
David

Hello,

do you own a 60beat game pad already? (or should I say "still"?) Because it is discontinued. No recommendation to buy the overpriced older ones. Drone Control still has support for it. Please see my thread here: http://www.ardrone-flyers.com/forum/vie ... =74&t=5803

For MFI gamepad controllers like the Moga Ace please see my other thread here: http://www.ardrone-flyers.com/forum/vie ... =74&t=2813

Sweet and delicious apps for your drones.

A real big thank you for responding. It's no coincidence that I contacted Kyle Tarpley who sorted out my problems with good advice based on his extensive knowledge.
I have downloaded Drone Control and got a Moga Ace (Kyle generously recommended looking my side of the water) ordered at 4.30pm on Friday and delivered 9.30am on Saturday.
It was a bit windy but risked a quick trial and quite delighted with the potential!
The next thing is going to be range and the option of a Wireless Extender or Drone aerial modification but I would not attempt it myself and buying an amended new motherboard it not cheap.
Rather hoping to get done input from flyers who have done one or the other.
Thanks,
David
