ANOTHER RECORD BROKEN - 1553 feet (up)

Post by ScubaSteve » 08 Dec 2012, 15:33

Yes, must be a week for breaking records, another one has fallen

1553 feet up, including losing sight completely of the Drone for 2 mins at 1500 feet until I descended enough to see it again. Time to get there, 4 mins.

Wow. That is up there!
You get neck cramps ?

I'd say you will hold on to that vertical record for a while.

I think there should be some rules on these record breaks.

Firstly for the record to stand you must have the Drone return to you, eg no flyaway to a stupid height never to see the thing again.

Secondly, verifiable proof of the record, eg with mine the alt display, and garrocks the Overlay data etc etc

At these altitudes one wonders what kind of damage might result from a collision with another aircraft.

Despite living in the country, I do tend to see far more aircraft around here than I might have expected, and they appear/disappear pretty quickly. I'd sure not want to be responsible for an accident!

No more or less danger than a bird strike really hence why there is only an altitude limit for things that weigh above a certain weight, something like 10kgs, I forget the exact figure

Very cool dude, think I'm sold on getting one of your kits,

You must have been a wee bit worried though when you lost contact, at that height if it went haywire it could end up landing quite a distance away from you!!!
