Modified FreeFlight 2.4.10 APK with game controller support

TL/DR version: FreeFlight 2.4.10 app modified with controller support and hover lock toggle, plus several fixes. Get the APK here: https://www.drone-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=75&t=8262&p=81189#p81188 (updated 13th April 2017) The only reason Parrot keeps selling ARD 2.0 at this late stage in ...

Re: Controllers for All: PS3 controller support for ios

It won't work. This tweak is only for games that have adopted iOS 7 native controller support.

However, I think there's an older tweak for PS3 controller that works via touchscreen emulation.

Re: Hovering uses more power than flight?

The main point is the extra lift generated thanks to extra airflow going through the main rotor (or 4 rotors in case of quad). It does not matter in which direction you are flying it can even happen in a stationary hover when there is a wind blowing from the side. Well, obviously, airspeed is airsp...

Re: Hovering uses more power than flight?

Thanks for the tip, pawelsky. Most of the material I found refers to traditional helicopters and thus describes effects such as increased tail rotor efficiency, but the effect of reduced air recirculation should in theory apply equally to multirotors as well. However, I found this page on mikrokopte...

Re: video quality at different modes

Don't forget that we don't have access to raw images from the camera, we only see them after processing and compression. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a low pass filter somewhere in the chain in order to keep bitrate low but at the cost of some detail.

Hovering uses more power than flight?

Quite often I see or hear a claim that hovering uses more power than flight, usually whenever there is a battery life test. Even DJI makes such claim in their Phantom 2 video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkyqPLyR3j0 But to me it seems counterintuitive, at least on the level of basic physics. When...

Re: Magneto or compas doing not good?

I did some quick compass tests on the ground with QGroundControl and you can try it yourself. This is very easy to do: orient the drone so that it is facing north before powering it up. Watch the heading in QGroundControl — it should be close to 0º. Then manually rotate the drone around the verti...

Re: Userbox to GPX converter

Great work! I was thinking to add KML export some time ago but didn't have the time to do it. Just a couple of comments: - in your version you output elevation+9 in GPX, elevation in CSV and altitude in KML. I recommend using altitude as it's based on pressure sensor readings and thus is more reliab...

Re: BEHOLD - The Parrot Mini-Drone - and some jumping thing

I'm surprised nobody mentioned in this thread that it uses Bluetooth instead of Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi range is already too short and Bluetooth has what, like 10 m range? This means no outdoor flights. I'm a little disappointed that we didn't see AR Drone 3.0, but I completely understand why they needed to an...

Re: How to Stop calibrating on IOS screen while fly

The calibration request comes from iOS itself when it senses that magnetometer readings might not be accurate. This prompt only appears if the current app tries to use magnetometer, which, in case of FreeFlight, is used for absolute control feature. If you want to avoid the calibration message, turn...

Re: skyjack takes over Parrot drones

Schlauncha, I mostly agree with your analysis. Even if this proof-of-concept attack doesn't currently present significant threat to AR Drone owners, it highlights the fact that we're more and more surrounded by various devices that are really computers with wireless interfaces, often connected to th...
