Re: Flight Recorder "on the cheap"

Afraid it is so long ago, I really don't remember enough about what baud rate is expected, but I do remember that the drone used SiRF binary mode, not NMEA, although it did set that up itself by sending messages to the GPS. I suspect that if SiRFDemo is unable to change to sirf mode, then neither wi...

Re: Utility to reflash firmware / obtain installer plf with

I think you are very confused about what this thread is about and what you have built. You say your drone is a v2, the software linked in this thread is for the v1. In addition, the USB cable referred to in this thread is simple wiring to break out the USB pins on the v1 drone's debug connector, bec...

Flight Recorder "on the cheap"

My question was about "GPSd" which I guess is GPS Demo program!? My latest discovery when using Navistick with AR.Drone as a Flight Recorder & GPS is that after use with the Drone I can not connect with Navistick Viewer or SiRF Demo so I just leave it disconnected overnight. See Pawelsky post above...

Re: About to toss two AR Drones in the trash...frustrated

By the way if you run more than one drone at once you should change the ultrasound frequency so they are not the same. Otherwise they could confuse each other. Do a reset (you will know it has done it because it will restart a couple times and the wifi network name will reset). Then update the firmw...

Re: Flight Recorder "on the cheap"

Have you connected the navistick to your PC in the meantime? Depending on what you access it with, you can reset the configuration (eg gpsd did this). Figuring out if it works on you PC is a good troubleshooting step though. Kyrt Can you repost the this one: " you can reset the configuration (eg gp...

Re: AR Drone turned into flying bomb (battery issue)

For anyone other than the OP reading this who has this issue: dispose of them now, do not use them.

Lipo batteries are dangerous. It is relatively common for them to "puff", but it means they are failing and continued use can and does lead to very bad fires.

Re: Getting GPS Data

The same way you use it for any other type of autonomous vehicle I expect. It's intended as a standard protocol, that's the point of it. You'll probably need to know the UDP port to connect on, I can't remember what it is but google should tell you (indeed if you've use qGroundControl you should kno...

Re: Alpha AWUS036H as USB wifi dongle onboard the ARDrone.

First thing I would check is what version of the kernel is in your drone. I compiled some kernel modules but the kernel version must match exactly and the version on the drone did not match the modified kernel source Parrot had released at the time - basically they were lagging behind in their open ...

Re: Mobile sensing station using Drone 2.0

The GPS just sends it's output to a regular USB serial adaptor, so you can of course just redirect it over the drone's physical serial port (or process it in some way on the drone first). When being used by the drone, it outputs SiRF binary format.

Re: GPS Version String

Isn't there an option in freeflight to disable updating of GPS firmware?

What actually happens when it fails to update? I mean, does it stop it from working?

Re: Flight Recorder "on the cheap"

It works exactly like the parrot flight recorder. I can't say I've ever really noticed a difference in altitude hold but I've not paid attention to that. With regards to tracking, again like the flight recorder you can see the drone on a map in freeflight. The location will of course only be updated...

New main board??

If you can't find any physical problems with the board and you're sure all the connections are solid, then not sure what you can do. The first places I'd look for damage would be connectors. No LEDs at all suggests no power or something equally fundamental, so you could try testing that with a multi...
