Re: First qgroundcontrol flights

Dnbrice, sorry I didn't reply sooner, it's a busy time of year. Qgroundcontrol is an awesome program, once you know where the trees are..haha. I've done a fair few flights now using it and it has become my favorite way to fly at the moment. Just set some waypoints and away it goes. It's fun sending ...

Re: A couple of flight recorder questions

Thanks Ruyton, yeah I'd read that somewhere before. It's a funny thing, I'd had perfect jello less video up until my last series of crashes, and had never balanced the props, they were as they came on the drone when new. Both my v1 and v2 drones have always filmed fine. When I change to bearings and...

Re: A couple of flight recorder questions

Solved the battery issue by getting the 1500mah battery, just need to wait for my props to arrive then I can change the gears, bearings and props and see if that fixes the jello problem.

Re: First qgroundcontrol flights

Well I've done a few more successful flights now. Multiple waypoints and 90% sure I was out of wifi without a problem. Have got an issue with the video now suffering from the dreaded jello effect. I have new gears and shafts coming in the mail, and will rebalance or replace my props and see if that ...

First qgroundcontrol flights

Well I finally had the time and the weather to give qgroundcontrol a shot and I'm impressed. My first flight I set five waypoints,at 15m altitude, it took off, spun 360 to get bearings, then off, got through 4 then hit a tree with no major damage. I think it was because I left the distance around th...

Re: A couple of flight recorder questions

Thanks for the reply, I think my battery is no good. I'm not having any connection issues, everything seems fine except for the flight recorder firmware update and the actual flight time I get from the battery. I have noticed that it is only taking 40min to charge and as soon as it is in the air the...

A couple of flight recorder questions

Hi every body. I have just received my flight recorder yesterday and have not purchased a bigger battery yet. Everything worked perfectly except for the flight recorder firmware update, it just hung at the erasing firmware stage, had anyone else had this issue? Also I am only getting about 6 -7 minu...

Re: Drone tried to escape. Had to KILL him!

Unfortunately I didn't video the setup on the drone, and the only real test I did in the air was during one suspected fly away, I still have the electronics at home but have long done away with the film canister and chute. I didn't really notice anything different when flying, I think the v1 drone h...

Re: Drone tried to escape. Had to KILL him!

On my v1 drone I had an rc parachute mod when I first got it and was paranoid about having a flyaway happen. I used it once, not sure if the drone was actually flying away, but with my little experience at the time I hit the chute. I've given a brief description of it in another thread, but given th...

Re: Parachute mod

V2 is definately an upgrade, but I'm not sure why it doesn't seem to like having payloads added. I've read a few posts I this forum mentioning this. The hook accessory looks like it could be fun, although I have no experience with the mirumod so i couldn't help with making it work. I've put the macg...

Re: Parachute mod

If there was any effect i didn't notice it. The v1 drone handles extra weight a lot better than the v2. All the stuff required for the chute system was still less weight than a go pro and mount for example, and lots of people had no problems after adding these. As for the CG, again the V1 seemed to ...

Re: Parachute mod

Sorry, I have no pics and removed it long ago, but will describe the setup the best I can. First of I used an rc BEC connected to the charging plug to drop the voltage down to 5v for the rc receiver. From the rc receiver I had an rc switch connected to channel 1. This switch was connected between th...

Re: Parachute mod

I used one back in the day of the fly aways for peice of mind, basically it was a small rc receiver powered from the charging plug through a BEC, using an rc switch connected to the battery plug and the drones power plug, and a servo to spring loaded plastic chute inside a film canister on top of th...

Re: MacGyver kit and maintain ability to view live video?

I use the macgyver mod, and can get a video feed if I move the phone away from the transmitter, the best results I have had is to have the phone a couple of feet away from the transmitter, however I still get a bit of lag when make control inputs. It's a frequency thing and the power of the transmit...
