Re: Macgyver RC Mod for the AR Drone

In my day which was a few years ago now, the miru-code had been slightly but decidedly changed on the macgyver mod to fit his soldering preference. That meant using a mirumod update either needed recompiling the macgyver change to the arduino or resoldering the signalwires for the receiver

Re: A Noob wanting to build his own Quad.(Now Built)

I didn't even realize it wouldn't work to be honest with the internal one, i just presumed i could fit another frsky rx in the drone and it would be ok, is that not the case then? That would be a waste of money imho, a cheap $7 CT6 Rx which HK also sell would be plenty of tech for the mod and is li...

Re: A Noob wanting to build his own Quad.(Now Built)

I went for the DHT route as it allows me to swap modules so I can still easily use the T9x for the ardrone, which won't work with the internal unit unless you put a switch in somewhere, or are you not going to do the mod? Choosing motors is always difficult, you want lots of power but not unnecessar...

Re: A Noob wanting to build his own Quad.(Now Built)

Got the NotSoGoodLuckBuy (for anybody searching for more info on them) second package and just as I thought it didnt complete the order either. Badluckdudebuy not only cannot tell time but they cant count for toffee either: still missing 30pairs of 4.0mm bullet connectors. I've requested 2x20pairs o...

Re: A Noob wanting to build his own Quad.(Now Built)

Actually I have spares. On one of my first tries with the 450frame and an appropriate battery it exploded into a tree on first lift, fell out of the sky onto a bicycle path and fractured where mount meets arm. I used Qbond to fix it (which bonds really well to anything carbon) but ordered two red ar...

Re: A Noob wanting to build his own Quad.(Now Built)

They do look a match, funny that didn't come up on the search (room for improvement on the HK search engine I feel). Difference in price I imagine would be that the RCTimers arms are carbon reinforced? Plain ol plastic ones would fit but aren't really advisable I think... We've just had our first sn...

Re: A Noob wanting to build his own Quad.(Now Built)

Just got my GoodLuckBuy shipment, or I should say half of it. One small box arrived with only half of my order in it, so about $100 worth of goods now in limbo or something... WTF This is really starting to P me off.

Re: A Noob wanting to build his own Quad.(Now Built)

About you RM450, i was told that the cheap $11 HK 450 frame is compatible with rctimers so the arms would fit on it, four spare arms for $11 if that's the case ;) Anyway when i get my 450 i'll order a couple of arms from while i'm at it but it might be worth spending $11 to check if they do fit, i'...

Re: A Noob wanting to build his own Quad.(Now Built)

Doing some research on flipping and aerobatics in general it appears that there is a significant difference between MWii and MegaPirateNg in terms of flight characteristics where MWii is more suited for across and MPNG more for aerial videography etc. As I've yet to receive my Goodluckbuy shipment (...

Re: A Noob wanting to build his own Quad.(Now Built)

A quick fix might be to put some locktite on the arms, just slid the mounts up a bit and a drop will do it. I've done it myself and it seems to work really well.. To be honest I feel these quads have a hard enough time as it is to keep things stable and adding rotation will just make things more dif...

Re: A Noob wanting to build his own Quad.(Now Built)

Does your 9X have two antenna's? No, I did a simple mod: prm7KfFsWww Well anyway i'll put an order in soon, i went up the park yesterday and managed to get some flying in, there was a slight wind but it was ok, i didn't really get a lot of tuning in though as i was too busy having fun flying it, th...

Re: A Noob wanting to build his own Quad.(Now Built)

Well i'm guessing its just bad luck you having to wait so long, the joys of free shipping eh ;) Yeah, except I paid extra for shipping, hence the track&trace... :-( That's the last time I order from GoodLuckBuy, RCTimer and HobbyKing are just too good. The have a copy of the Ardiuno Nano which is c...

GoodLuckBuy ridiculous shipping times

I have placed plenty of orders and I've never had much hassles with GLB in the past (other than double the RCTimer.com shipping times). But, I placed a large (>$150) order on 28 sept. The website got updated almost immediately stating it had been shipped but there was no tracking nr. on the website ...

Re: A Noob wanting to build his own Quad.(Now Built)

Oh btw, I received a bunch of pre-flashed simonK ESC's and the difference is quite remarkable. So I then tried to flash my older ones but had a bit of trouble and Simon himself came to the rescue: power the ESC's from a separate source and it's a doddle. I highly recommend it if you haven't done so ...
