Re: Stabilization of front cam with Memory wire (nitinol, SM

I happened to have some nitinol laying around and I tried to do the same thing, but I could not make it move fast enough. Keep us informed of your progress. To make it fast you need to increase current, in my case I'm using n-channel FET transistor voltage follower between arduino and memory wire (...

Re: AFP 9.55 not working

Thank you, most likely something wrong happened while update, I'll try to reinstall the app. Android 4.2.2. CyanogenMod 10.1, nookhd 7". If it works for everyone sure it will work for me. Unfortunately I cannot check it right away because I'm using ardrone at my country house and there is no wifi ho...

AFP 9.55 not working

After update to 9.55 it stopped working. Screen shows Ardrone connected, but no navstream data and no video. Tried several times, reboot, restart, etc, no luck. FreeFlifgt and FreeFlight 7.6 work OK on the same tablet. Am I alone? I'm using AFP for an year without any problems on the same tablet.

Stabilization of front cam with Memory wire (nitinol, SMA)

Ardrone front camera stabilization with shape memory alloy (nitinol, memory wire) actuator (NanoM-70R-6P). Angle feedback is provided with IMU6050 board attached to the camera and Arduino mini. Tilt control is done with LED animations. Advantages: a) strong! 10g/cm b) smooth Disadvantages: relativel...

Re: Tethering Your Drone

I did tethered flight with external power supply recently: http://www.ardrone-flyers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=7417" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; You can fly tethered drone flawlessly until it reaches the end of the cord. See my las...

Re: Micro BLDC stabilized Gimbal for Keychain Camera

Hi obelix. I like this gimbal. I have stripped down a contour roam cam. Its about 70g with battery. To save some gramms i think i get it powered from a step down regulator from the drones battery. I will tilt only the objective not the whole board. Thinking about to reconstruct your gimbal, anyone ...

Thanks, good point, I forgot about such an option. How good is stability at a point? Can it be held for hours within 5m range?

Re: Ardrone wired to the ground power supply

Waiting for the longest AR.Drone flight duration video now ;) Electronics/heat dissipation is not a problem for a long run. I was running pinned Drone for 1 hour. Problem is unstable behavior caused by wire tension: left unattended it eventually makes circles or linear movements with increasing spe...

Ardrone wired to the ground power supply

This is a first part of my attempts to build wired flying filming device. Ardrone quadrocopter wired (15m (50ft)) to the ground power supply. 18-60V to 12V 120 wt DC-DC converter on board (49g), 2x2x0.255mm (AWG 30) wire (27g), ground power supply 57V. Voltage drop at the wire is 15V at full power (...

Re: Servo controlled camera tilt

Nothing related to pawelsky 's nice tilt setup from the first post. I just wanted to test what to expect from tilt stabilization with servo control. My current understanding that unfortunately servo cannot provide smooth movement. It has a lot of strength and even fast enough for that purpose, but t...

Re: Servo controlled camera tilt

Cool. Are you going to add angle stabilizer? This approach may be better than fully stabilized system. After my successful micro gimbal for 808 #16 ( http://www.ardrone-flyers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=6026&hilit=micro+gimbal ) I've tried built similar system for front camera. It works, but I ga...

Re: Flight Recorder "on the cheap"

Got 2gb navstick. Has anyone experienced the following problem: sometimes after navstick was plugged-in ar drone changes something and sirf messages becomes wrong (it can be seen with sirf tool mentioned in pawelsky thread). Protocol is still sirf@115200, but messages are wrong. The only way to fix ...

Re: ArDrone-side booster and antenna in numbers. Tests.

garrock , 2. Your test also confirms my observations that stock antenna cut is not needed and since angle dependence is smooth, it corresponds to the wheel antenna (most power goes to external antenna). That is far from the case. Your plot does not factor in all the erratic readings I was getting. ...

Re: ArDrone-side booster and antenna in numbers. Tests.

garrock , Very well done tests, thank you. In contrast to my tests, they show behavior of the drone in an open space (at least close), so dips in Ar Drone's antenna are now clear. I plotted your data as a graph: http://www.msh-tools.com/ardrone/garrock_tests.PNG I would not call you have 10dBm over...
