That's what I was figuring. Good to hear a confirmation from someone though. The barring was my last best bet. I'll get a set and see. Thanks for the feedback. My apologies to the moderator since this was off topic. Here's hoping quirks with iOS 8 and the app get worked out fully.

My friend and I I both flew yesterday day on the same set up, 5S, drone control and Moga pads. I'm still running iOS 7 and all worked fine, my friend was running iOS 8.0.2 and had problems with drone control dropping out or hanging or the Moga not responding and needing a hard reset a couple of times. Range was not effected although the wifi gage showed very low signal, still managed 40 meter + heights.

I have an original iPad and an iPhone 5s, the iPhone has iOS 8 on it, the iPad is old and stopped updating after iOS 5.1.1.

My AR.Drone 2.0 no longer flies correctly with iOS 8, but flies great with my iPad (iOS 5.1.1), so for me it isn't hard to deduce that there's an issue with Freeflight and iOS 8 working together.
  • 1. I have the wifi indicator pulsing from full strength to zero, constantly.
    2. Freeflight randomly loses the ability to control left/right, back/forward motion (basically the left side of the controller stops working, the right side continues to work fine).
    3. GPS with iOS 8 is a no go, you'll lose control of the drone.
None of this happens with the ipad on iOS 5.1.1, and it didn't happen when my phone was iOS 7.

One more note. My iPad runs Freeflight v2.1.12, I can't install the latest because it requires iOS 6 or newer. Freeflight v2.1.12 doen't have the GPS indicator function in the setup, and it doesn't have the mapping interface, but the GPS itself works great, insofar as holding the drone, day or night, in a nice hoover pattern, regardless of altitude. (Just thought someone might find that a point of interest.)

Airplane mode shuts off Wifi on my phone. Can I turn it back on manually?

Despite everything I have read here, the WiFi signal problem with IOS 8.0 plus 8 updates has not gone away. I still get a very weak signal (0 to 5%) when next to the AR which drops to 0% 20 feet away.

No news at the moment, but I'm digging.

It should be fine when enabling flight mode but the weak signal gauge still persists.

Is this a dead issue? The problem with WiFi persists.

Hello,

it's not a dead issue but at the moment there are no news. Parrot says there will be an updated version of the developer SDK "soon".
