Drone Control US - supports MFI gamepad controllers

Post by AR.Tommy » 24 Apr 2013, 19:38

Hello,

I guess you know already that I removed my AR.Drone apps from the US store because of the latest incidents. Now Drone Control is back in the US store - okay, kind of.

Actually it is a new app called "Drone Control US" and only available in the US store. It is a version without tilt control and also without absolute control but all the other features of Drone Control are still there.

Latest release notes:

Update 2.5
------------
Added support for the 60Beat game pad controller. You have to activate it in the misc settings.

Update 2.5.1
---------------
To meet the iOS data storage requirements, downloaded firmware versions can no longer be backuped to iCloud.

Removed unnecessary precision for tilt and speed settings. (no decimal places, this was absurd)

Tommy, I had already purchased this for my iPad before you removed it from the US App Store. Will I still receive updates for it?

Thanks

I have 2.4.1, which has Absolute Control. If I buy Drone Control US, will it replace my older version? I'd like to have 60Beat support, but would like to keep the option of using Absolute Control in my older version.

Thanks.

Hello,

I'm not sure about this, probably yes but I can not guarantee that.

Hello,

Suggestion for future releases:

You should have some sort of emergency voice control feature so that the app recognizes when you start yelling "oh sh!t, oh sh!t, oh sh!t" it will automatically land!!!

j/k of course, but i was flying today when i lost connection all of a sudden while my drone was moving forwards towards a bunch of trees all while yelling the above and thought about this!!!

:D :D

Haha awesome. Since the iphone is voiced controlled maybe that could work.
Seriously though if a verbal "flip"command could be issued or something else that would be cool.

LMFAO. I agree, that would be a great feature. I wished mine had that a few times. LOL

Version 2.5.5 just hit the app store!

Added the ability option for "smooth stabilization". Once activated you will receive very smooth stopping when releasing the controls. This is great for filming but the AR.Drone will not hold the position as good as before.

When using the 60Beat GamePad controller, the SELECT button is no longer an emergency cut off. You can now switch from smooth stabilization to normal position hold with this button. Great for shooting amazing videos!

Further 60Beat GamePad changes: use L2 to switch between cameras and R2 to zap through the LED animation.

USB recording time and current speed more readable on the iPhone.

Added the ability to share your navigation data file via email.

Had my first flight without stabilization. A bit windy but wanted to see how much more the ar would get blown around. Quite a bit as it turns out and that's expected. Almost continual control input to keep it anywhere near stationary and controlling it. None of this comes as a surprise to any I'm sure. Need to get some more time with it, but for now appears to be best with as little wind as possible. Again no surprise anyway with the ar . I think it will enable much better video though once practised.
