Drone Control HD for iPad - compatible with AR.Drone 1 and 2

Post by AR.Tommy » 16 Dec 2011, 11:04

Good morning!

released Drone Control HD today. It's my first iPad only app for the AR.Drone. Shows wifi signal strength and reached max speed among a lot of other infos. Includes all features from Drone Control with a new optimized user interface for two thumb control.

Downloaded and tested this today. Everything works well when controlling the drone. I flew on 1.7.10 firmware. I like the interface and options with this app. I'm trying to fly more with my iPad now with manual sticks.

The only issue I have is with the firmware downloader. I verified I was connected to wifi but still get the same error below. I can launch Drone Control on my iPhone connected to same wifi and download the files fine. I verified the downloader link to be ok. The attempted downloads do show up under available firmware but say corrupted since they didn't finish downloading.

Error Domain=ASIHTTPRequestErrorDomain Code=2 "The request timed out" UserInfo=0x204570 {NSLocalizedDescription=The request timed out}

Can you take a look at this Tommy?

Thanks,

Matrix961

Very interesting that this occurs only on the iPad. A few people can't download firmwares over wifi on Drone Control as well. As a workaround you can use the 3G network and it will work fine. (awkward)

This is a very strange issue and maybe because the server is in germany but I am not quite sure on this. I will come up with a solution for this.

Of course I did tests on both iPads and different iOS version. There shouldn't be an issue. But you can contact me via email and we will figure this out.

I don't think it is your app,s fault it happen after I upgraded my ipad2 to the new os and now I have trouble conecting to my smartphone barninacal Mobul hot spot , so to me it seams to have something to do with how the iPad is handling adhoc wifi . I will try my iPod today and see if it works ok still .when you tested your app was the ipad2 running the new os ? Thanks

Just set up a mirror to download firmware files. If you are also suffering from the "timeout issue", message / mail me for an alternate download url.

Great HD app!

Please note that the current version of Drone Control HD is not compatible with the AR.Drone 2 hardware. But the update will hit the app store soon.

I am not into Android. Sorry, but I can recommend Shelldude's Android App.
