East Tennessee, anybody?

Post by knoxploration » 03 Feb 2012, 20:22

Looking so far like there's nobody closer than a few hours from me, at least on the forum. (I'm sure there are other folks closer, as they were sold at the local Brookstone, but I've yet to find anybody else from East TN on the site.)

It is a pity that when people join the forum they would edit their signature and put their location, it would help people like yourself to locate next door neighbours

Or just fill in the location blank in the profile, then it shows up to the left of all posts.

Good suggestions both; I'll fill them in now, hadn't noticed that there were there previously.

I live North West of Maynardville that’s East Tennessee. I just bought my ar.drone and I already have become very proficient at crashing it

Maynardville? Cool, you can't be more than an hour or so from me, I'm in Clinton.

Its 23 miles to Clinton so probably more like half an hour. I live very close to the Hickory Star Boat docks if you know where that is.

My Skype name is TnBobPhoto.

Yeah, not far at all, 45 minutes or so. I'm not familiar with the boat dock (don't go out past Norris and Andersonville too often), but I'm pretty sure I've got it on Google Maps, which reckons it's 50 minutes from me. (I'm half way between Clinton and Oak Ridge).

Got any good fields out that way? Thus far I've mostly been flying around my house under 30-40 feet or so, not had a lot of time to scout anywhere else out and practice flying higher. (I have a three year old, which makes it tricky to get time!)

I don't use Skype very often; PM on the forum's probably the quickest way to get me.

I live in South East Tennessee. Next to North Carolina and Georgia.

I'm getting braver with where I fly. I'm stocking up on spare parts for that inevitable gust of wind that takes me out, haha.

Welcome, BigRed! Not been getting time to fly myself recently, but that's three of us around here now... We should get together for some flying some time.

Dunno about you guys, but I'm on a 1.0 drone with MacGyver mod...

I am up for a group fly.
I have a version 1 that does not fly stable and a version 2 that is great.
I just ordered my MacGyver radio kit for it.

I am working on some cool mods for mine which is why I bought the older version #1 off ebay so I use it as a testbed and not harm my #2.

Things I am working on.
1. lighting mods to make it look like a triangle UFO for a contest held each year to make the best looking and realistic UFO.
2. IR lighting facing down so it will fly at night I have 2 ideas one is IR led's but the one I am thinking will be best is a wide beam high power IR laser, it would light up the area directly under it very well invisible to the eye but its onboard camera sees IR light.
3. missile launcher to shoot fireworks rockets from a launcher mounted on top.
4. high power lasers in red, green, or purple that are visible to the eye and strong enough to pop balloons. ( i would like to set up some balloons up and fly the drone up to them and pop them with missiles and lasers )

I am from Knoxville. I just joined today. I bought an AR last week so looking for tips. Already removed the heavy decals and added landing gear. I have several quads and always adding.
