Re: novel mounting idea for camera / bottom plate

The system works very well!
I ended up placing Velcro along the bottom plate and using Velcro to hold the Mobius to the tubing. No jello at all as the camera is totally isolated from the body.

Re: will is work ?

I have no doubt you can get the distance, with a caviat.. I'm getting +200m with my tablet and a wifi extender with dual Omni 7dbi antennas. 600m will probably need an amplifier as well, these are cheap enough on eBay but it will be quite directional with a panel antenna and you may run the risk of ...

Re: AR Drone 2.0 hacked with power tools!

Broken those little adhesive squares that stop the cross from wobbling around? Here is my solution..

And no, I do not own a Velcro factory

Re: AR Drone 2.0 hacked with power tools!

Thanks arcangelraider :) For anyone interested in heading in the same direction.. here is a shot of the underbelly. Velcro has a kickass adhesive and is actually very light. The whole underside and front & rear 'slopes' are covered with it which allows various mounting options for the bottom plate, ...

Re: AR Drone 2.0 hacked with power tools!

I also picked up a couple of these flashing bicycle lights from the $2 shop.. They are made of soft silicone and can either be set to flash or steady light Mounted the red one on the drone as shown.. uses a couple of lithium button batteries which last forever (well, not FOREVER :D ) These make for ...

AR Drone 2.0 hacked with power tools!

Hi All, Sorry for the dramatic title.. thought I'd post some pics of my drone.. (I did use some power tools ;) ) Modifications: Ceramic bearings Chopped 'beak' and repositioned FPV camera Removed USB plug (not used) Chopped height of hull by 5mm Mobius mounted on remade bottom plate (both attached w...

Re: I don't have a clue to what I'm doing. I need advice.

Hi frankie3, Sorry to hear of your troubles with the AR. I may stand corrected, but I don't think that anyone here is going to be able to pinpoint the issues you are having without a good look at the drone and some troubleshooting. I would begin with a close inspection of the plugs and the PC board ...

Re: First Flight was a success!

Very nice! That will keep your drone safe and sound (when on the ground) :D

It's a nice case, over here it would cost more than I paid for the drone

Re: First Flight was a success!

Feet can be replaced.. there is someone on ebay selling replacement feet (not original) or if handy you could make a new set in a number of ways. I would consider a zip tie mod to soften future landings, sports cross or not..

Re: TP-link TL-WA830RE test >200m range

Hey Taddeo... Just waned to make sure that you are not plugging Lipo directly into your TP-link (The current TL-WA830RE is 9v). A multi voltage plug-in power converter is one thing, but if you want to power on the go with a Lipo you will need to convert the voltage to 9 volts with a regulator. I dec...

daylight orientation LEDs?

I am wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a front or rear LED setup for daytime flying. I'm looking for a lightweight solution for a flashing light which can be seen in daylight to assist to determine the Drone orientation when flying long distance with a wifi extender (e.g a visible light a...

Re: TP-link TL-WA830RE test >200m range

I use this one... it has both 12v and 9v output. Bought on eBay for about $35 complete. I have had it power my extender for over an hour with still plenty in reserve. (You need an extender function, not just a router)

Re: Prototype Flexible Frame

My guess would be the AR Drone is no more subject to crash damage than any other quad. Given it's weight I would think that it would actually fare better. The difference is probably that a self-made quad may be easier / cheaper to repair by the average hobbyist. An argument could be made that a perc...

Re: Prototype Flexible Frame

Love it! Well done, you obviously put a lot of work into this. Do you think an "x" made from a resilient block of polypropylene holding the 4 carbon fiber tubes in the center of the frame would reduce vibration even further and still maintain crash worthiness? Do you have the flying weight for this?

novel mounting idea for camera / bottom plate

Thought I would post my idea for mounting a camera and holding the bottom mounting plate to the drone. I got sick of peeling off the bottom plate and messing with adhesive tape so I came up with this idea... which I believe will also provide a good basis to mount my yet-to-arrive Mobius. I cut some ...
