Re: To build a quad - technical questions

get my head around WHY certain parts are used. From the little I've read... (Slow means around 10-13K rpm instead of 20+K rpm) Slow props are better as they cause less vibration, slow props have a bigger angle to create the same lift at slower speed. Small props are better as they have less inertia...

Re: To build a quad - technical questions

These tri-copter instructions contain a full parts list.

The KapteinKUK flight controller mentioned is beyond my abilities to make, make me one too if you're successful. :)
You can buy a pre-assembled one, although there doesn't seem to be any stock at the moment.

Re: Drone keeps flipping

Just because you didn't specifically mention it... Have you checked that you're C and A props are in the right places?

Which Tx?

Which transmitter does everyone use to fly their copters? I'm looking into building a tri-copter, although building a KK controller is a bit beyond my skills, so I may end up buying an ARF quad instead. The obvious first step is to get a transmitter. I'm thinking Futaba, Spektrum or Hitec, but I'm o...

I'd like a parachute that opens on a Too Much Angle error. Really, "too much angle so I'll shut off all my motors", who the F thought of that?

Isn't it great! I was thinking of putting a racing stripe down the middle of the band, but I didn't want to show off too much. 8-)

Re: Drone protective gears and shafts

I gotta correct you there w1ngz. The drone software will cut all the motors instantly if one of the propellers comes in to contact with anything. One of the most common accidents is flying the drone in to something hard (fence, brick wall, road, etc). When the drone hits, the props turn as they are ...

Cheapest way to strengthen your outdoor hull.

The magnet on the outdoor hull isn't that strong. My hull often gets pulled sideways in a crash, tearing the nose off it. Strengthening the thin parts of the hull could result in the force just being transferred to the camera mount, and I couldn't find a belt that was easily removable and didn't int...

Re: AR Drone keeps flipping after crash andreplacement of sh

Pull your drone apart and glue the mainboard to the central cross at an angle, so the sensor shows flat.

This may void your warranty. :)

Re: How high can we fly?

I'm in Sydney, but give me a yell if you're ever in town. Just get out there and have a go at going high, but wait till there's no wind. There's always a little bit, but I drive around to find a location with as little wind as possible then fly the drone up in front of me, so that the wind is blowin...

How high can we fly?

Well since I finally got my drone working reliably again, here's a video of my better (and worse) attempts at high flying aerial photography with my drone. Honestly I'm not sure how high I got in some of these, but I'm waiting for a dead calm day to try any higher, lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Re: Fix for drone moves sideways/backwards on takeoff

I noticed my drone glitching again today, and had another thought. Maybe some background apps, eg email, are trying to access the internet via the drones adhoc network. Obviously this won't work, but it may send odd messages to the drone. I closed all the apps waiting in the background (there were L...
